Handwritten endorsements on REIV auction authorities must be construed in the context of the whole document, including defined terms on the reverse page. A party's ignorance of terms in a signed document does not, absent misrepresentation or other vitiating element, permit those terms to be disregarded. The defined meaning of 'sale' in a standard REIV authority (extending to receipt of a binding offer) cannot be overridden merely because the parties were unaware of the definition.
