A solicitor-client costs agreement that provides for multiple forms of account is not inconsistent with clause 16 of the prescribed notice under the Queensland Law Society Act 1952, provided the agreement is construed (or a term implied) to require that any form of account must include sufficient details for the client to assess reasonableness. A provision in a client agreement that the solicitor's General Terms may be varied from time to time is a consequence of the original agreement, not an amendment, and is therefore not inconsistent with clause 20 of the prescribed notice. The word 'void' in s 48F(1) means void, not voidable. It remains open whether s 48F(2) might apply to sever only the offending provision rather than voiding the entire agreement.
