A client agreement specifying the basis for calculating fees by reference to hourly rates, with a percentage estimate of recoverable costs (e.g. 50%-75% of actual costs), satisfies the requirements of s 48 of the Queensland Law Society Act 1952 and the schedule notice. The agreement need not specify fees with precision prior to work being undertaken. A provision in general terms giving examples of possible account formats using the word 'may' does not constitute an agreement on the form of accounts triggering clause 16 requirements.
