Under s 15(b) of the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (Qld), the period of operation of a supervision order is not a 'condition' within the meaning of ss 16 and 19, and therefore cannot be amended. There is sufficient uncertainty about whether an indefinite term is permissible under s 15(b) to make it undesirable to impose one; a definite period should be stated. Conditions of the order remain amenable to amendment under s 19, providing some flexibility even where the duration is fixed.
