A supervision order under s 15(b) of the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (Qld) must specify a finite period and cannot be expressed to operate 'until further order of the court'. The drafting of s 24 (which assumes finite periods for the purpose of extending supervision orders by periods of imprisonment) confirms that 'period' in s 15(b) means a finite duration. Whether s 22(d)(ii) permits extension of a supervision order's duration was left open.
