Where an exclusion clause excludes damage 'occasioned by or happening through contamination', the word 'contamination' may refer to both the process of contamination (as a cause) and the resulting condition of contamination (as the damage), and it is not illogical to find that damage caused by the admixture of foreign objects constitutes damage caused by contamination even though the damage itself may be characterised as contamination. There is no requirement to trace the causal chain back to antecedent mechanical causes where the contamination itself is the proximate cause.
