Where a co-offender's sentence is itself excessively lenient, the disparity between co-offenders' sentences is attributable to the factors supporting different treatment and does not give rise to a justifiable sense of grievance. A breach of the parity principle in respect of one count does not require resentencing where the total sentence is an appropriate measure of the total criminality.
