A misdirection inviting the jury to consider whether a complainant and her mother conspired to lie is capable of correction by redirection; it does not automatically require discharge of the jury. Apparently inconsistent verdicts (acquittal on a principal count, conviction on an alternative count) may be explained by the jury exercising mercy where the trial was not conducted on a basis enabling the jury to distinguish between the counts.
