An accused who does not put the quantity of drugs in issue at trial cannot raise that matter on appeal as a ground for challenging the adequacy of jury directions or the reasonableness of the verdict. The Pemble duty to leave alternative bases of acquittal to the jury does not arise where there is no evidence at all supporting the alternative hypothesis.
