A sentencing judge is not required to expressly state where in the range of objective seriousness an offence falls when a standard non-parole period is prescribed; the assessment may be demonstrated by the non-parole period actually imposed relative to the standard. The relevance of an offender's mental condition to sentencing is not limited to cases where a causal relationship between the condition and the offence is established.
