The sentencing range for trafficking in dangerous drugs over a short period (10 days) involving significant quantities and diversity of drugs, with no guilty plea, is between five and seven years imprisonment. A sentence of seven years with no early parole eligibility, while at the top of the range, is not manifestly excessive where the offender showed no remorse and did not cooperate with authorities. Where the prosecution does not invite the jury to treat an accused's lies as circumstantial evidence of guilt but merely submits that disbelief of the accused leaves the prosecution case uncontested, no Edwards direction is required.
