For unlawful possession of methylamphetamine in excess of 200 grams for commercial purposes under the Drugs Misuse Act 1986 (Qld), a starting point of nine years imprisonment is within the appropriate range where there are two episodes of offending within six months, the second committed on bail with substantially greater quantities, even where the offender has no significant criminal history, pleads guilty, and has a background of drug addiction. Sentences in the range of eight to eleven years are consistent with comparable offending.
