Police officers executing a search warrant have an implied power to take video footage and photographs only where the filming is incidental to and for the purpose of the search; there is no general power to film for intelligence gathering purposes. A search warrant must be executed within a reasonable time, and officers who remain on premises beyond that time are trespassers. The transcription of information from documents during a search, without lawful authority, constitutes trespass to goods even without physical removal of the documents. Police do not owe a duty of care to individual complainants to investigate threats made by anonymous callers, applying the conflicting duties principle and public policy immunity.
