Possession of a large quantity of child pornography including images of sexual abuse of children ordinarily warrants an immediate custodial sentence. However, even where a sentence is found to be manifestly inadequate on a Director's appeal, the Court of Appeal retains a discretion to decline intervention, particularly where the non-custodial sentence has been served and double jeopardy considerations apply.
