Where an accused engages in a continuous, unbroken course of violent conduct culminating in a fatal act, it is artificial to segment the final act from the totality of the conduct for the purpose of assessing whether the requisite intent to cause really serious injury accompanied the causative act. The jury may infer intent from the totality of the sustained attack.
