A subordinate drug trafficker who temporarily assumes the principal's role while the principal is absent does not thereby become equivalent in culpability to the principal for parity purposes. The link between drug addiction and offending has limited mitigating weight in commercial quantity trafficking where the amount distributed greatly exceeds personal use. There is no relevant distinction in criminality between a single date count and a between dates count where the single date offence is not an isolated episode and the criminality depends on the quantity of drug involved.
