When coincidence evidence is admitted under s 98 of the Evidence Act 2008 (Vic), the jury is entitled to consider the whole of the coincidence evidence in relation to each count and is not required to compare each count individually with a single 'anchor' count. The jury directions need not require pairwise comparison of counts but must make clear that each count requires separate consideration and proof beyond reasonable doubt.
