Where a co-offender's sentence is reduced on appeal, the resulting disparity with the other co-offender's sentence may warrant intervention on parity grounds alone, even where the original sentence was within range. The Court will not, however, reduce a sentence to a level it considers manifestly inadequate merely to achieve parity. A manifestly inadequate co-offender sentence cannot be completely ignored but may justify some reduction to ensure justice is seen to be done.
