Post-traumatic stress disorder, while a relevant mitigatory factor in sentencing for drug trafficking, does not warrant the same degree of amelioration as serious mental illness such as schizophrenia that obscures the mental intent to commit the crime. Where co-offenders at different levels of a drug supply chain receive identical head sentences, the disparity may be explained by substantial mitigatory factors personal to the higher-level offender.
