Sentencing statistics are at best a very crude guide and the fact that a sentence exceeds the median is insufficient of itself to establish manifest excess. Comparable cases provide only a general guide or impression as to the appropriate range and must not be subjected to micro-detailed analysis that adds or subtracts periods of time for aggravating or mitigating factors. Consistency in sentencing requires placement within the correct range, not matching with individual cases.
