Non-compliance with s 6AAA of the Sentencing Act 1991 does not vitiate a sentence, and a complaint about the discount for a guilty plea can only ever be a particular of a ground contending manifest excess. The gravity of drug trafficking and attempted trafficking offences is not diminished by the fact that the offences occurred in the context of a police operation involving an agent provocateur or that an inert substance was substituted for the drug, provided the offender initiated the criminal enterprise and was not pushed into supplying a larger quantity than intended.
