Where an offender is in continuous, uninterrupted possession of the same firearm, only one count of possession should be laid. When sentencing for possession of a firearm that was also used in an armed robbery, the sentence on the possession count must not include any component for the use of the firearm in the robbery, and the sentencing range is not that applicable to possession associated with criminal activity. Error on an individual sentence reopens the sentencing discretion on other counts only where the error was material to those other sentences; however, error on any individual sentence will reopen the non-parole period because it is informed by all individual sentences.
