A 'best reasonable endeavours' obligation does not differ significantly in content from a 'best endeavours' obligation; both require a party to do all it reasonably can to achieve the contractual object. Where a contract is conditional on compliance with a development consent and a party encounters difficulty complying with a condition, the best endeavours obligation may require the party to seek amendment of the consent, particularly where the consent authority has indicated willingness to consider such an amendment. A party cannot rely on alleged impossibility of compliance with a regulatory condition to excuse performance where the condition, properly construed, does not impose the requirement the party claims is impossible.
