A jury's not guilty verdict on one count of rape does not render guilty verdicts on other sexual offence counts inconsistent where the not guilty verdict is explicable by specific evidentiary weaknesses relating to that count alone, such as the complainant's failure to mention the incident in an initial police interview, reference to a person not present on the alleged date, and lack of corroboration from other witnesses. The not guilty verdict does not amount to a positive finding that the events did not occur.
