A sentence of 9 years' imprisonment with a 6-year non-parole period for defensive homicide characterised as towards the middle of the range was upheld, where the offender stabbed her de facto partner twice in the chest with a knife during a domestic argument, notwithstanding a history of family violence, no prior convictions, and strong mitigating factors. The contention that inadequate weight was given to family violence was treated as a particular of the manifest excess ground, not a freestanding ground of appeal.
