Absent extraordinary circumstances, trafficking in Schedule 1 drugs on a large scale (over $1.5 million in payments to suppliers) by offenders in their mid-20s with prior convictions warrants a sentence of at least 10 years imprisonment, even where the offender was drug addicted at the time of offending. Drug addiction that does not prevent the offender from operating a major trafficking business is insufficient to reduce the sentence below 10 years. New evidence of drug addiction will not be received on appeal where it would not have resulted in a lesser sentence.
