A total effective sentence of 8 years' imprisonment (6 years for possession of 403ml of 80% purity liquid methylamphetamine with intent to supply, and 2 years cumulative for possession of 2,035 MDMA tablets with intent to supply) was upheld for a courier who transported drugs from Sydney to Perth as part of a well-organised venture, notwithstanding good antecedents, early guilty plea attracting maximum 25% discount, and low risk of reoffending. The so-called one transaction rule does not require concurrent sentences where total concurrency would not reflect the total criminality of possessing multiple types of drugs.
