A sentence of 5 years 10 months' imprisonment for a courier in possession of 164 grams of methylamphetamine at 82% purity, with prior drug convictions and no remorse, is within the acceptable sentencing range under s 6(1)(a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1981 (WA). A 3-month discount for a co-offender's particularly difficult childhood does not infringe the parity principle where the co-offenders' roles and criminal culpability are otherwise indistinguishable.
