Where multiple measures under s 21AW(1) of the Evidence Act 1977 (Qld) are taken in respect of affected child witnesses (e.g., prerecording of evidence and presence of a support person), the trial judge must give the s 21AW(2) jury direction separately and explicitly in relation to each measure. A direction given only in relation to one measure will not be taken to cover other measures, even if the direction is given in broad terms. The proviso will normally not be applied where the child complainant's evidence is uncorroborated and contains significant discrepancies with adult preliminary complaint witnesses, though this is a practical norm rather than a legal prohibition.
