The expiry or revocation of an interim apprehended violence order does not deprive the District Court of jurisdiction to hear an appeal from the making of that order. However, relief for jurisdictional error may be withheld where the appeal would inevitably have been dismissed on the merits, particularly where an unchallenged final order in identical terms is in place. Procedural fairness requires only that a party be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard, not that they actually be heard.
