There is no general principle that a person is not entitled to the benefit of an indemnity unless that person has suffered an actual ascertainable loss; the nature and extent of indemnity rights is always a question of construction. The source of funds used to perform a contractual promise is irrelevant to the question of whether the contract is supported by consideration.
