An aggregate sentence of 22 years imprisonment for seven armed robbery and related offences committed over four months with escalating violence was upheld as not manifestly excessive. A sentencing judge is not required to find good prospects of rehabilitation where the principal psychological evidence has been retracted and the Pre-Sentence Report assesses medium risk of reoffending. A four-month period of escalating violent offending does not constitute a short-term 'crime spree' warranting reduced accumulation under the Qing An principle.
