For trafficking in methylamphetamine and cannabis on a large scale over almost five years, involving wholesale supply and production, a sentence of 10 years' imprisonment with a serious violent offence declaration is within the appropriate range, even for an offender who was 21 at the commencement of offending. Lack of business sophistication resulting in lower realised profits does not reduce the need for deterrence where the scale of operations is comparable to cases attracting sentences of 10-13 years.
