Section 246-25(4) of the CATSI Act permits only a single extension of directors' terms to the next general meeting; it does not permit repeated extensions if no directors are appointed at that meeting. Where an Aboriginal corporation has no directors due to factional deadlock, the appropriate remedy is special administration under Chapter 11 of the CATSI Act rather than court-appointed receivership. Directors who accept membership applications for the purpose of manipulating voting power at a future general meeting exercise their powers for an improper purpose.
