An offence of intentionally causing serious injury involving a coward's punch rendering the victim unconscious followed by repeated punching of the unconscious victim is of sufficient gravity to justify giving primacy to general deterrence and denunciation over the youth and rehabilitation of a 19-year-old first offender.
