Where a sentencing judge expressly refers to the emphasis placed on an early plea of guilty, it is fanciful to contend on appeal that the judge failed to have regard to the timing of the plea. A sentence that appears lenient on its face for the most serious charge may itself demonstrate that full weight was given to mitigating factors including the early plea.
