An intensive correction order is not an appropriate sentence for supplying a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine except in very exceptional circumstances, given the maximum penalty of life imprisonment. A delivery role with limited knowledge, youth, good character, and rehabilitation efforts do not constitute very exceptional circumstances. A jurisdictional slip in failing to sentence for a certificate offence, resulting in an ICO exceeding the statutory limit for a single offence, should not of itself form the basis of a successful Crown appeal where the slip was advantageous to the respondent.
