The parity principle does not require identical sentences for co-offenders where the sentencing judge has identified and engaged with relevant differences in culpability, personal circumstances, timing of guilty plea, and whether offenders were subject to court-imposed supervision at the time of offending. A modest disparity explained by such factors does not give rise to a justifiable sense of grievance.
