When sentencing for manufacturing a prohibited drug as part of a joint criminal enterprise, the sentencing judge is entitled to have regard to all acts undertaken in furtherance of the enterprise — including preparatory acts such as arranging premises and transporting equipment — not merely the offender's hands-on contribution to the actual manufacturing process. Injuries sustained accidentally in the course of committing an offence are not properly characterised as self-inflicted for the purpose of diminishing their weight as extra-curial punishment.
