The discount for a plea of guilty must be applied to each indicative sentence individually, not merely to the aggregate sentence. Indicative sentences for offences carrying a standard non-parole period must specify a non-parole period. Where the Crown concedes that a higher discount should have been applied, this necessarily concedes the sentence was not at the bottom of the available range, defeating a proviso argument under s 6(3) of the Criminal Appeal Act 1912 (NSW).
