Section 161S of the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992 (Qld) does not wholly displace s 161R; the mandatory component operates but is subject to the court's discretion to reduce it for cooperation. An indemnity from prosecution obtained through cooperation is a relevant consideration in assessing the discount under s 13A. The parity principle may require reduction of a sentence, even absent sentencing error, where a co-offender with greater criminality subsequently receives a markedly lesser sentence.
