Where co-offenders in drug importation cases have very significantly different roles (one managing and coordinating importations at a high level, the other merely providing delivery addresses), very significantly different quantities, and very significantly different expected rewards, the parity principle requires much greater differentiation in sentence than a ratio of approximately 8:12.75 years. An unappealed co-offender's sentence stands as the reference point for parity even if it may itself be lenient.
