Individual sentences of 10 years' imprisonment for incest charges are within range for high-range offending following a fully contested trial, and 12-year sentences are open for course of conduct charges or particularly grave individual charges, in the post-Dalgliesh sentencing landscape. A total effective sentence of 25 years with a 19-year non-parole period is not manifestly excessive for sustained, protracted sexual offending against two step-children involving extreme violence, depravity and breach of trust over approximately 6-7 years.
