Where an offender suffering from drug-induced psychosis lacked foreknowledge that drug use contributed to the psychotic state, moral culpability is substantially reduced and sentencing considerations of denunciation, general deterrence and specific deterrence may play little or no role. A complaint about the sentencing judge's characterisation of the seriousness of offending, or the weight given to Verdins principles, does not constitute specific sentencing error but is properly treated as a particular of the manifest excess ground.
