General deterrence remains a significant sentencing consideration for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm even where the offending does not involve alcohol, drugs, fatigue or a lengthy period of reckless driving, provided the driving involves recklessness, inappropriate speed and prolonged inattention to traffic signals. A period of actual custody of six months within a two-year head sentence is within the permissible range for such offending notwithstanding an early guilty plea, no criminal history, remorse and good character.
