A sentence of 10 years (50 per cent of the maximum) for intentionally causing serious injury by shooting with a sawn-off shotgun for reward, where the offender was a serious violent offender, was not manifestly excessive. A disparity of double the co-offender's sentence was explained by the co-offender's cooperation undertaking and lesser criminal history, with reductions of 50 per cent or more for cooperation being not unknown.
