Covert video recording of sexual offending is ordinarily inferred to be for the dominant purpose of sexual gratification, including deriving pleasure from the complainant's lack of knowledge and the opportunity to relive the experience. The imposition of a suspended or conditionally suspended term of imprisonment for a serious offence against s 326(1) of the Criminal Code (WA) is, as a matter of fact, exceptional.
