In a multi-count circumstantial case, the inability to identify a logical basis for the jury's acquittal on a small number of counts (here 2 of 44) does not render the remaining convictions unsafe where there is strong evidence supporting those convictions and the jury has otherwise returned careful and reconcilable verdicts. Invoices that correlate with but are not indispensable to a circumstantial Crown case do not require a Shepherd direction; they are threads in the rope rather than links in the chain.
