Expert evidence raising only a theoretical possibility of an alternative hypothesis, dependent on an acknowledged imprecise estimate, constitutes a decidedly unsteady foundation on which to build a hypothesis consistent with innocence and is insufficient to compel a reasonable doubt. Internally inconsistent eyewitness evidence may be accorded little or no weight by a jury.
