A single administration of the separation oath or affirmation under s 50 of the Juries Act 2000 (Vic) is sufficient for the entire deliberation period, though the preferable course is to administer it on every occasion the jury separates. Orders for cumulation must reflect the relative seriousness of individual charges within a series of offences committed on the same occasion, even where the offender is a serious sexual offender.
